Health Activities of Vivekananda Kendra Kanya Kumari Branch Kangra - Himachal Pradesh
Vivekananda Kendra, Kanaya Kumari, Branch Kangra is holding free regular monthly Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) medical camps in Kangra town for the last more than 15 years now and thousands of patients have been treated free so far.
A renowned ENT Surgeon of the country Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva, Director and Head of the Department ENT , Head and Neck Surgery Max Group of Hospitals Saket has been regularly visiting the town to hold free OPD for needy and ailing patients. Free audiometric tests are also held in the OPD camp in collaboration with CORD head quartered at Tapovan Sandeepni Himalayas.
The selected patients are treated through different super specialized surgeries conducted in surgical camps held in different hospitals in the town every month. These surgeries are carried free of cost.
Kendra Carried different ENT surgeries of deaf and dumb children below the age of 5 years in particular. During the last few years more than a dozen deaf and dumb children were operated upon for Cochlear implants free of cost with positive results. Each Cochlear implant costs Rs. 5.38 lakhs being provided free of cost to these ailing children. Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva otherwise charges Rs. 1.20 lakhs for this surgery which he is doing free for patients selected through Vivekananda Kendra ENT Camps.
Some patients were selected in the Kangra OPD and were operated upon in the Max Hospital free of charges. During last year in its camps more than one thousand patients were treated free and 430 audiometric tests were conducted.
The news papers and TV and Web Channels had been covering this activity of Kendra prominently in public interest. The first girl child Shruti of Kangra district was implanted a Cochlear implant and she was hearing and speaking well .
Kendra is planning to hold such medical camps on monthly basis for the heart patients too and Dr. Talwar former Director of PGI Chandigarh and AIIMS and former Cardiologist of President of India will attend this camp and will conduct free cardiology surgeries at Kangra in near future.
